December 28, 2007 -- While Evgeny Nabokov builds a better wall than Pink Floyd in the San Jose nets tonight against the Blues, the Peoria Rivermen got the offense cranked up in Des Moines against the Iowa Stars.
Jean-Guy Trudel scored four times, Trent Whitfield added a goal and three assists, and prospects Nikolay Lemtyugov, Charles Linglet, and Hans Benson also found the net as the Rivermen extinguished the Stars by an 8-3 score.
Jeff Woywitka, who had been held off the scoresheet in 11 straight games before earning an assist Wednesday in a 4-3 OT loss to Rockford, registered assists on Linglet's goal at 1:54 of the first, and on Lemtyugov's goal at 7:23 of the third. Woywitka was also one of five Rivermen with a solid plus-4 rating on the night; the others were Trudel, Whitfield, and prospects Chris Porter and Alexander Hellstrom. Porter, with three assists, was also one of six Rivermen to register a multiple-point game.
Chris Beckford-Tseu, better known as "The Hyphenator," stopped 36 of 39 attempts by the shooting Stars for the win, raising his numbers to 7-4-1, a 2.89 GAA and 89.4 save percentage.
The Rivermen take the ice at Carver Arena again at 7:00 PM on Saturday night to face the Rockford IceHogs in a West Division matchup.
