Nick Drazenovic, a 6-01, 187-pound left-shooting center prospect, has reportedly signed an entry-level contract with the Blues, according to Canadian media.
Drazenovic, drafted in the sixth round by the Blues (171st overall) in 2005, is a native of Prince George, BC, and led his hometown Cougars to the WHL's Western Conference Finals this year before succumbing to the powerhouse Vancouver Giants. In 15 playoff games this season, Drazenovic amassed 9-10-19 scoring totals (3 PPG, 3 GWG), an even plus-minus, and six minutes in penalty time.
The "official" announcement of Drazenovic's signing is pending a physical in St. Louis, which is expected to take place within the next few days. The 20-year-old (born January 14, 1987) will probably be assigned to Peoria for the 2007-08 season, and his presence there will surely help bolster what was a somewhat anemic offense at times for coach Dave Baseggio's Rivermen.
