To paraphrase a famous Missourian, reports of the death of Marek Schwarz' career have been greatly exaggerated.
Schwarz, after a "get-your-$#!+-together" stint with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL, is returning to the Peoria Rivermen and the AHL today. Derek Gustafson, who has been opening the bench door for the Rivermen for the past few games while Hannu "Ears" Toivonen has been getting lit up, will be passing Schwarz in mid-air on his way back to Anchorage.
"Marek played like he's capable of up there," Rivermen coach Dave Baseggio commented about Schwarz' 4-0-0 record, 1.96 GAA and .931 save percentage in his four-game assignment with the Aces.
The Rivermen are off until Friday, when they begin a stretch of five games in six days. Look for Schwarz to get the start on Friday night at home vs. the Grand Rapids Griffins.
"If we do not prepare for ourselves the role of the hammer, there will be nothing left but that of the anvil."
-- Otto von Bismarck, 1851
EDIT: This just in, the Blues have recalled Hannu "Ears" Toivonen and has re-assigned the Goalie Named Tseu.
