It's hard to get all GAMEFACE! for a matinee game. In California. Against those Kings. Maybe this will help:
Honestly, the Kings are a deceptively good team (17-10-2 and 6-4-0 in their last 10) and their young players like Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty are stepping up and leading the way.
The problem with a guy like Kopitar for me is that every time I look at him, I see Marty Feldman:
And I just can't get past that.
As for the rest of the team, I'm a creature of habit and have under-rated them for a long time. For as long as I've been a Blues fan the Kings have been a should-win. Not so of late, however. The Kings beat the Blues once already this season, and crushed the Note 3-1-0 last season. You know, the season where they went 34-37-11 and finished 14th in the Western Conference. Baffling.
Fans and players alike are still buzzing about the big win over San Jose on Thursday, but that won't mean anything if the Blues can't put forth the same consistent 60 minute effort today.
Game is on FSN (sorry Dish Network people) and be sure to check out the Battle of California because those guys are hilarious. They even think Wayne Simmonds is a new Scott Hartnell! What a bunch of crack-ups.
This is your Game Day Thread. As Eric The Midget would say, "You know what to do. You know what to do."
