If you're a Dallas resident today, you have a lot of sports choices for your attention.
First of all, there's the Texas Rangers in the ALCS for the first time in the history of man. An instead of pissing the game away against the Yankees like last night, they were actually taking care of business this afternoon. Then there are the Longhorns of the University of Texas playing at No. 5 ranked Nebraska, and winning late. There's NASCAR tonight in prime time, that's gotta rate. And of course the Cowboys play tomorrow.
Oh yeah, the Stars are hosting the Blues. They're an afterthought to an afterthought. So don't expect a lot of excitement from the crowd. Of course on the ice, it could be different.
Remember Steve Ott? Yeah, still a Star. And Krys Barch and his head made of cement will probably give it a go after coming back from injury. Kari Lehtonen is expected in net for Dallas. Apparently Mike Modano is no longer a star. We would have paid attention to that if he was any good.
For the Blues, expect Ty Conklin to get the start. If Barch is frisky, Brad Winchester might be a busy boy. I would say this is a fairly significant game considering they lost their last one and the next three are against Chicago, Chicago and Pittsburgh. They need at least a point tonight, if not two as they play their second road game of the season looking for their first win away from home.
The weather's nice. Hopefully your barbecue is getting a workout before autumn really hits. We'll see you at game time at 7:30 p.m. CDT.
This is your game day thread. Go wild, you don't have to respect it in the morning.
