Sorry for the technical difficulties during the game, GDTers, but sometimes the entire network crashes under the weight of Game Time's awesomeness. I don't actually read the technical emails about why the network crashes, but I'm pretty sure that's the reason.
Anyway, an unimpressive effort from the Blues winds up as a win. Sometimes you get what you deserve and sometimes you just get a gift handed to you for no reason. With few shots on net and plenty of screwed up scoring chances (OT three-on-one, anyone?) it seemed like it was just a matter of time that a bounce was going to go Nashville's way. Once it got to overtime and the bad ice at the rink led to blown tire after blown tire for skaters on both sides, my gut was telling me that someone in a Note was going down and the Predators would pounce on it and stick it in the net.
When that didn't happen and the game went to shootout I liked the Blues chances, but with Brad Boyes whiffing on a shot and Erik Johnson denting the goalpost it seemed like the hockey gods were going to step in and tell them that it was not to be.
Thankfully Andy McDonald was the first guy to score and the last guy to score tonight, slipping a patient shot five hole to get the Blues the shootout win.
They didn't deserve it, but they got two points. Back at it on Friday against the Stars in Dallas, hopefully they'll play like they want to win that one.
