Wearing high-lighter yellow socks, the Oregon Ducks took the field Monday night for the BCS National Championship game.
The plucky Ducks employ a high-powered fact-paced offense designed to catch the opposition off guard. What the Ducks don't have is Cam Newton.
The rifle-armed quarterback of the Auburn Tigers won the Heisman Trophy this season for being a multiple-threat offensive weapon.
Monday night's game is being played in Arizona, home of the Phoenix Coyotes. It looks like the desert just wasn't big enough for Ducks, dogs and Tigers, so the Coyotes hit the road to take on the Blues.

And that, my friends, is how you write a Dan O'Neill lede.
Anyway, with that nonsense out of the way, it's time to get down to business. On the last day of 2010, the Blues hosted the Yotes and simply dominated for 2.5 periods. The Blues got out to a 4-0 lead and David Backes played a like a man in a land of tiny little children. He was in full-on beast mode.
Things fell apart in the third. The Blues just began to suck and Phoenix cut the lead to 4-3 with seconds left. The Blues were able to hold on and win the game—the last the Blues have won.
St. Louis has lost three in a row. The streaky Blues have been hot at home so maybe, maybe this is just what the Blues need to right the ship.
Jaroslav Halak is in net for the Blues and the Twitters tell me Jason LaBarbera will be in the cage for Pheonix.
Let's hope Paul Bissonnette and Cam Janssen dance tonight, and then talk trash on Twitter.
This is your GDT. Do it to it.
