West Coast games are awful. Starting games at 9 p.m. central time? Eff that noise.
Anyway, the Blues are struggling right now. The streakiest team that ever streaked has lost four in a row. Tonight, they take on the Anaheim Ducks.
Earlier this season, when the team was healthy, the Blues dominated Anaheim. It was game No. 2 and the Blues won 5-1. Andy McDonald and David Backes scored six seconds apart. It was pretty awesome.
That was in October. Now? The Blues are relying on offense from Brad Winchester—career best three-game goal-scoring streak—and a cast of bottom-6 forwards. Seeking some spark, the Blues are playing Basil's kid, Phil McRae, and Ryan Reaves tonight. Reaves made his NHL debut in that first Ducks game. Cam Janssen gets the night off, so he won't get the pleasure of hilariously breaking his face on the fists of George Parros.
The Ducks are led by Jonas Hiller who has been lights out. He is coming off back-to-back shutouts against the BJs and San Jose. His scoreless streak stands at 154 minutes and 50 seconds. Just what a struggling offense needs—a hot goalie.
This is your Game Day Thread. You know what to do. Put on the coffee—it's going to be a long night.
