LEGACY McRAE HAS THE BLUES IN HIS BLOOD:

Basil McRae put together a long NHL career by using his size and toughness, but was not a big scorer. McRae's son Philip has the size, and enough toughness to make his presence felt, but it's his scoring touch that led the Blues to select him with the first of two second-round picks (33rd overall) in 2008. The Apple Valley, Minnesota native took the wraps off that scoring touch this week, posting a hat trick in Texas last night. Video highlights coming as soon as they are posted by the Rivermen.

2011 PICK VEILLEUX HAS GOOD HANDS... IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE:

LW Yannick Veilleux, the Blues' fourth-round selection (102nd overall) in last summer's Entry Draft, has been making an impact in the QMJHL this year. Veilleux scored a hat trick in his first game back with the Shawinigan Cataractes after being cut from the Blues' camp, and he has six goals and nine points in 10 games in junior this year. Veilleux is also a gritty and physical player, as illustrated by his recent scrap with Val-d'Or's 6' 2, 180-pound blueliner Gabriel Beaupre. Check out the video highlights below (Veilleux is #9 in white):
