Woohoo !!!! We're going streaking!!

The Blues played a mighty fine game on Wednesday, shutting out the defending Western Conference champs 3-0. The goalie is credited with the stat, but the win was a total team effort. The Sedin twins were held off the scoresheet; Henrik had only 2 shots on net, Daniel didn't have any at all. That probably was related to the 21 shots the Blues blocked: the Nucks only had 7. Hell, Kent Huskins had 6 on his own. The Blues also dominated the faceoff dots, winning 58% as a team. There were stretches where the Blues' puck possession spanned multiple shifts. Even Coach Payne commented on the total team effort that was put forth. When the guys play with a common effort, they can compete with anyone. They just need to continue to work together.

The Enemy: This is largely the same team that the Blues faced and beat for the first win of the season on Columbus Day. That night we faced their backup goalie, Henrik Karlsson. All of Calgary's wins this year have come with Miikka Kiprusoff in net (3-3-0 in 6 starts). So far, he's posted a 2.19 GAA / .920 SV% stat line. Alex Tanguay is their leading scorer (1G/7A) in terms of overall points, and Rene Bourque leads the team with 5 goals (0 assists) (puckhog). Perennial All-Star Jarome Iginla has so far been held to 4 points (2G/2A). Two of Bourque's goals came in Calgary's previous game, a 4-2 win over the Avs on Wednesday. Tonight, the Flames may be getting a player back from injury, LW Curtis Glencross.

When the Blues beat the Flames, Calgary was held to 17 shots on net, including only 2 in the third period when they were behind. That night, the coach had a closed-door meeting with the team. Let's hope the Blues have a similar impact tonight!

Final Verse: The puck drops at 8:00 PM St Louis time, and the GDT should be along shortly before that. The broadcasts are on the usual outlets, Fox Sports MW for the TV and KMOX 1120AM for the radio feed online. Thanks to Mr. Freese, the over-the-air radio broadcast will probably be "Fresh" 102.5 FM KEZK . Until then, this is your pregame warmup and gathering place. Get together here, pass along the latest game updates, and continue celebrating that Game 6 win last night. Do it for Torty!
