Road Music: 03/05 @ New York Islanders

I don't think anyone expected a win against Washington, necessarily, but I do believe that we were all expecting the Blues to respond to the Calgary bed-shitting with a serious effort against the Caps. And Lo, it came to pass, that the boys were competing for the full 60 minutes. In particular, it seemed the Blues got off to a fast start. If those were really their true colors, then they should be able to duplicate that fast start again against the Islanders. Hey Ho ... Let's Go

Blitzkreig Bop / The Ramones

The Enemy: Today is the rare occurrence where a Friend of GameTime becomes the enemy, but just for one game. The Isles are stuck in a seemingly perpetual rebuild, allowing many teams to underestimate them. The Trevor Gillies hit and suspension has been news for a while now, but its not like they are going to miss him on the ice. No, they are built around their top draft picks like Kyle Okposo, John Tavares, and Frans Neilsen, and other youngsters like Matt Moulson, Michael Grabner, and P.A. Parenteau. Currently, the Islander Goalie Carousel (6 goalies have started this year) is focused on Al Montoya who has put together a respectable 4-2-1 record (and 1.93 GAA/ .930 Sv%) since being acquired by New York. This is still a team that we should beat, but nothing's a given with this Islander team. Their compete level (especially against the Pens) have proven time and time again that they can beat anyone.
