The season is over yet it is not over. There are games on the schedule, but the Blues have been officially elminted from playoff contention. The 2010-11 season is dead, long live the season.
Blues are at Blue Jackets today. Don't know who is in net for either team. Does it matter? I've never been a big fan of fan tanking -- the phenomenon where you root for your team to improve its draft position. I think it's bad karma. Don't root against your team. Ever. Not for your fantasy team, not for draft picks, not for a better playoff matchup. You get comfortable with losing, what's the point of being a fan?
And yet, here I am, fairly comfortable with losing. Friday night the wife and I attanded the game in some good seats. We didn't end up staying in our seats for much of the third period. We were outside the big team store hanging with some folks affiliated with this place. Sure we were watching some on the non-HD monitors (cheapskates), but we were more making fun of a guy with a mullet and weird Euro jersey and this woman who had a denim jacket to match her denim jeans. Stuff like that. We're very mature. So when the Blues fell to Calgary, it really wasn't that big a deal. Fickle we fans are.
Just one week left in this season for the Blues. Cherish these games for they will not be here long. And then it will be a long May, June, July, August and September before we have Blues hockey again. Hi, I'm Debbie Downer.
Comment like it's the season opener.
