THREE STAR SELECTIONS FOR THE WEEK ENDING 11-03-12
Once again, the best performances by Blues' prospects this week were found in the major junior ranks... and once again, QMJHL and WHL prospects are leading the way.
Moncton Wildcat Dmitri Jaskin earns First Star honors for the third time this season, putting up three goals (including a game-winner) and six points as Moncton lost a 9-4 decision to Blainville-Boisbriand on Friday before bouncing back to top Gatineau 6-2 on Saturday.
2010 pick Ty Rattie kepy his playmaking hand strong this week with a goal and six assists in three games, as his Portland Winterhawks rolled to a 9-5 win at Vancouver on Friday and a 9-1 win in Spokane on Saturday. The Hawks have won eleven games in a row, have points in their last 12 games (11-0-1-0), and sit atop the WHL's US Division with a record of 15-3-1-0 in 19 games.
Saint John's Ryan Tesink takes Third Star honors this week with three goals and five points in three games, hekping power the Sea Dogs to QMJHL wins over Drummondville and Sherbrooke after dropping a 3-2 heartbreaker at home to defending Memorial Cup champs Shawinigan last Sunday.
A pair of defensemen -- Peoria's Mark Cundari and collegian Colton Parayko of Alaska-Fiarbanks -- make their first appearances of the season in the "Fab Five" this week. Cundari's Peoria teammate Anthony Peluso remains hot with a goal, two assists and a plus-1 in Peoria's three losses this week, but just missed making the cut for today's list.
