New York Islanders Stranded In St. Louis, GDT

PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU WOULD LIKE A COPY OF TONIGHT'S PAPER GAME TIME THAT WE SELL OUTSIDE THE STADIUM, EMAIL ME. ADDRESS AT THE BOTTOM OF EVERY PAGE. WE DO THIS FEW TIMES A YEAR, DON'T THINK WE'VE DONE IT THIS SEASON YET.

It must be hard getting the Islanders team plane off the ground carrying that humongous Rick DiPietro contract.

Rick DiPietro has made six starts this season. He will make $4.5 million this year. He will make $4.5 million next year. And the year after that. And the year after that. And the year after that. And the year after that. And the year after that. And the year after that. And the year after that. And the year after that. His guaranteed contract runs out after the 2020-21 season. Ladies and gentlemen, your New York Islanders!

Alright, there's more to talk about than The Contract That Will Never Die. John Tavares is pretty damn good. He has 55 points in 56 games. I'm no math expert, but I bet that puts him on pace for at least 56 points on the season. He's 21 years old. Some guys, they have all the luck. But then again, he plays for the Islanders.

P.A. Parenteau has 51 points. He's a late bloomer He became a regular in the NHL last season. He turns 29 next month. Coming into the season he had 62 total points. I think he's going to do better than that this season alone. Here's what you need to know about old P.A. His first name is actually Pierre-Alexandre. Did he have a girl twin sister that he absorbed in the womb and his parents didn't want to give up the girl name? Shouldn't his nickname be P-A? Can you blame him for going by his initials? What were his parents thinking? So many questions.

So the Blues' Goaltending Wheel Of Uncertainty is spinning tonight. I'd think that Brian Elliott's name will come up after Halak has gotten some time lately. The All-Star looked good a week ago in relief in New Jersey and again in overtime against the Avalanche on Saturday. But then Halak had the shutout of San Jose on Sunday and only allowed two goals on Tuesday. It's probably Elliott's turn, but you never know.

Five players have started games in net for the Islanders. If you own a fat stick and goalie pillows, send Garth Snow an email. You never know.

This is your game day thread. Comment like you're gunning for a 15-year contract.
