Wolves fall to Wild in shootout
DES MOINES, IA --- The Chicago Wolves and Iowa Wild put on an offensive display Thursday night as the Wolves were outgunned 5-4 in a shootout at Wells Fargo Arena.
Chicago (3-3-0-1) received regulation goals from forwards Shane Harper and Keith Aucoin and defensemen David Shields and Brent Regner in the team’s first game against Iowa (4-1-0-0) and first shootout of the season. Aucoin, Harper, Shields, Sergey Andronov and Chris Porter posted multi-point games for the Wolves.

Wolves fall 3-2 on Breast Cancer Awareness Night
ROSEMONT, IL ---The Chicago Wolves claimed a brief second-period lead before Grand Rapids rallied for a 3-2 victory Saturday night at Allstate Arena.
Center Corey Locke posted one goal and one assist for the Wolves (3-4-0-1). Defenseman Brent Regner delivered the power-play goal at 12:40 of the second that nudged the Wolves into the lead.
"We played well enough to win," said Wolves head coach John Anderson. "Their goalie stopped a couple breakaways in the third and the only mistake we made ended up in the back of our net."

PAW PRINTS: Despite giving up four goals on 31 shots on Thursday night in Iowa (and taking a slashing penalty), Jake Allen's save percentage of 93.1% is still good for 13th in the AHL ... Only one goaltender ahead of Allen on the save percentage leaderboard, Norfolk's John Gibson (95.3%), has played more minutes than Allen ... Gibson has played 374:40 to Allen's 305:49 ... Allen's 305:49 of playing time ranks twelfth among AHL netminders, and his GAA of 2.35 is 24th overall ... Dmitrij Jaskin has been scratched for the Wolves' last five games since leaving the ice with an apparent injury on Oct. 13 ... RW Cody Beach and D Cade Fairchild still have yet to see game action this season, and LW Yannick Veilleux has only dressed for two of the Wolves' eight games to date ... Conversely, Shields and Ty Rattie are the only Blues' prospects to have dressed for every Wolves' game so far this season.

KALAMAZOO, MI --- Despite receiving plenty of energy from 5,576 enthusiastic fans, the Kalamazoo Wings third period comeback bid fell short, as the K-Wings dropped their home opener and 10th Annual Orange Ice Game 2-1 against the Evansville IceMen. The crowd of 5,576 was the largest opening night crowd in the K-Wings’ 40-year history.

WING TIPS: Friday night's clash with Evansville was only the second game played by the K-Wings so far in the 2013-14 ECHL season ... Both games were against Evansville, who were the Blues' ECHL affiliate last season ... Jordan Binnington made 24 saves on 26 shots in just over 59 minutes of playing time, good for a 2.03 GAA and 92.3 save percentage ... The Blues have had Ty Conklin in Kalamazoo for the last week, working with Binnington and Kalamazoo's other goalie, 12-year pro veteran Joel Martin.
