I was in the middle of Target when the game started and I got the update that Buffalo had scored just 10 seconds into the game. Shortly after that the "Secret Tunnel" notification alert I have set for goals rang loud and clear all through out the chip aisle. At 1:09 of the first period Brenden Morrow would get a very nice backhand pass from Chris Stewart and get the puck past Ryan Miller. Clearly Target brings out the weird juju for the Blues

From what I saw of the first period Blues looked strong and it seemed the early goal didn’t phase them. As the period wound down Buffalo seemed to become undisciplined and took two penalties late into the period. The Blues would take advantage of Tyler Ennis taking an interference penalty against Jaden Schwartz at 17:30. Vladimir Tarasenko would get a pretty ninja like second effort pass from a falling T.J. Oshie and would end up putting it in the back of the net.

The second period saw the Blues and the Sabres play some pretty intense hockey. There was lots of end to end skating and cycles as the neutral zone became a war zone. Through all of that the Blues would put 8 shots on net and holding the Saber to 9. Jaroslav Halak would grab the bull of life by the horns and stay calm under quite a bit of pressure late in the period. After killing off a phantom boarding call on Senko The Blues would fight threw an onslaught of sustained pressure from Buffalo. Halak would be there, making some pretty nice and key saves to keep the score 2-1. After a pretty nice series of saves by Halak on Ville Leino at 14:09 Stewie would get his second assist of the night and set up Morroow for his second goal of the night, taking a beautiful one timer off of Stewart's pass.

The third started off with the blues in a strong position to maintain their lead. They came out with some umph and a bit of pomp and circumstance, laying into the Sabers and taking advantage of Buffalo’s mistakes. At 6:10 Magnus Paajarvi would get his first goal as a Blue with just an absolutely gorgeous slapper from the top of the circle. Jay Bowmeester would skate the puck up along the boards, somehow getting a pass to Ryan Reeves outside of the creese. Reeves would quickly get the puck back to Paajarvi who would blast it stick side pushing the score to 4-1.

The Game would go to the Blues and put them up to 14-3-3 in the standings with 31 points on the standings board.

Tonight we saw a strong Blues team out on the ice. They had some interesting slip ups like most nights but their overall performance was not only strong and successful but fun to watch. I wish I had seen more of the start of the game so I can give a better comparison, however they needed to win this game. They should win these types of games. What I find nice about this season so far is that the blue and yellow are always finding a way to bounce back after a bad night.
