Tonight I was awoken from my Saturday pre-game nap by my goal notification. Its a lovely way to wake up if you ask me seeing as it was a Blues goal. Vladimir Sobotka would score at 1:39 of the first period and put the Blues on top. Sobe would get a nice chip in pass from Alex Pietrangelo and take the puck to the net. Unfortunately he was tripped up and went head first into Dallas' Kari Lehtonen followed by the boards.

The first period was fast and intense. A slew of penalties would follow the goal starting with Roman Polak at 8:11 with a inconclusive holding call against Tyler Seguin. The Blues would have easy work on the first penalty kill of the night holding off the Stars and protecting their one goal lead. The Stars however would get lucky and take advantage of a defensive breakdown and tie up the game 1-1 at 10:53. Vladimir Tarasenko would barrel his way through the Stars' defence and make sure to put an end to Dallas' resurgence. At 11:02 he would score the game winner of the night with a nice assist from Jaden Schwartz.

Shortly after the goal the fun would kick off at 11:27 with Sobe dropping the mitts Rich Peverley.

But the scraps wouldn't end there, as Ryan Reaves rocked Valeri Nichushkin into the Blues bench and was then challenged by Brenden Dillon. During the fight Reaver would break his hand, lose a tooth and require stiches for a cut in his forehead. He would not return to the game.

The second period would open very strong and would continue to be fast paced. Compared to the first period the second was pretty tame. Brian Elliott would make some spectacular saves to keep the Blues in the game. David Backes would get the only goal of the period at 6:56. He would carry the puck all the way into the zone and let off a spectacular wrist shot from the left side of the slot.

The third period would unleash the decimation resulting in 3 goals. The first coming with in the first minute of the period and would increase #RoyWatch by one. Alexander Steen would take a shot from the blue line and would get a tip in from Derek Roy.

Five minutes later Chris Stewart would take a beautiful shot from the side boards and get it past Lehtonen.

The Blues would put the nail in the coffin at 11:02 with a tip in by T.J. Oshie off of a Pietrangelo shot from the point.

Tonight the St. Louis Blues opened the preverbal scoring flood gates against the Dallas Stars. Vladimir Sobotka was an assist away from getting a Gordie Howe hat trick, 2 fights in the first period and some pretty bang bang shoot em up type of play from the Blues. It was a fun time to watch but that is it for me I have to go watch the Doctor Who 50th Special with Sam... and possibly cry. Enjoy the win Blues fans and let me know what you thought of the game in the comments!
Three Stars of the Game:
Third: Vladimir Tarasenko
Second: Vladimir Sobotka
First: Brian Elliott
