There couldn't be a more favorable opponent for the Blues to start their latest homestand with. Why? The Flames have only won one of their last five games against the Blues, and St. Louis is on a three-game home winning streak against them. Brian Elliott's had some pretty solid success against Calgary, and will be starting tonight.
How much success is "solid success?" Try one goal on 43 shots in his last two games against them.
The Flames may be starting the goaltender that the Blues sent up in exchange for Jay Bouwmeester. Reto Berra won his NHL debut, a 3-2 overtime win against the Chicago Blackhawks. He looked impressive and sharp - less a prospect than a young starter. He's benefiting by getting playing time with Calgary, because with the Blues' log-jam at goal, he wasn't going to fit.
Of course, he was in the net for all five Minnesota goals against on November 5th, sooo... who knows.
Check back later on for a Lighting the Lamp, a game preview, a GDT, and a recap. Perhaps a .gif or two of plays you just saw a few minutes prior if the plays are somethin' special.
Speaking of somethin' special, Alexander Steen's up to 13 goals. Keep it going.
