Tonight the first period was quite honestly pretty boring. That could be the I only got about 4 hours of sleep talking but there isn’t much to report. The Blues seemed to have a hard time keeping the puck in Winnipeg’s zone to get off a good scoring chance or to set up something to lead to a scoring chance. The positive of the boring start was that Winnipeg didn’t have any significant chances either. Their biggest chance came during the power play, after Captain David Backes took an interference call. Brian Elliott would be there to make the saves necessary to negate the Peg’s special teams chance.

The Blues would end the period with only 2 "official" shots on net.
The second period the Blues seemed to liven up and take the play to Winnipeg. They came out with more aggression and what seemed like more motivation then they had in the first. Elliott continued to make some pretty big saves as they watched the second 20 minutes tik away off the score board. at 4:44 of the period Alexander Steen would pull off a significantly awkward angle goal by banking it off of Ondrej Pavelec’s back from the corner.

The Blues would take the lead into the third period.
The final 20 minutes tonight were a busy one, especially for the keepers of the penalty boxes. the period would see three Blues penalties in some weird and sometimes confusing penalties. It seemed early on that the Blues sat back and let Winnipeg gain momentum back. At 3:00 Bryan Little would take a snap shot and get the puck past Elliott on a Blues penalty kill. Kevin Shattenkirk would be the difference maker. Dustin Byfuglien would hook Vladimir Sobotka at 16:34 resulting in a power play for the blue and yellow. At 16:58 Shatty would get a pass from Derek Roy on the Jets’ Blue line and blasted a slap shot past Pavelec. Putting the Blues up 2-1.
