Blues At Kings Morning Open Thread: Revenge For... Oh Never Mind.

You know what? Enough with the message/revenge games. Just play hockey.

So far the Blues have had to deal with a revenge game from Colorado (good job, good effort, Avs!) and one from San Jose (ok, seriously, good job Sharks), now the Blues get to deal with one with the Los Angeles Kings. This time, the revenge is on the Blues' front, and let's face it, it doesn't count.

A regular season win won't make up for the heartbreaking 4-2 playoff loss that the Blues suffered. That loss sets square on the shoulders of an anemic offense that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn more than anything else. Has the Blues' offense improved? Obviously. They're second behind the Blackhawks with a 3.44 goals a game average. Not bad for a boring ol' defensively minded team, huh? The Kings're scoring a whole goal on average less than the Blues are a game. Maybe this year will be different. Maybe they can take care of things if they run into LA in the playoffs again.

But a regular season win? Doesn't change a damn thing about the playoffs last season. Call me when they finish off the Kings in the postseason this year.

One interesting thing to look at when it comes to the Kings and Blues are future Team USA Olympic teammates Dustin Brown and David Backes. I hope to God that they get along better in the Olympics than they do during the regular season.

Uhoh. Someone opened the Carlo Colaiacovo door on that one.

And then there's this one, where Backes is all like "GTFO."

Actually, you know what? I just think Backes has a beef with the Kings. Ask Jack Johnson, Slava Voynov, Colin Frasier, and obviously, Drew Doughty:

Daaaamn, Gina. It's a shame that tonight's puck drop is 9:00 St. Louis time. I don't know if I'll be able to stay up all night. But it's all good, because if you check back later, there'll be a recap - but not before a game preview by CCR and of course your GameDay Thread. And don't forget to say hi to the nice folks at Jewels From The Crown, Battle of California, and The Royal Half.
