Reading Dan O'Neill's Morning Skate piece for answers as to why the Blues played so awfully bad on Friday against the Sharks is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Not a soul seemed to be able to pinpoint what happened.
"You can't really look at the odd starting time, conditions were the same for both teams," defenseman Barret Jackman said. "There's no excuses. They came out prepared and we didn't. We have to be ready to play."
Hm.
"Tough to say what happened, one way or the other," said defenseman Ian Cole, who scored his first goal of the season in the loss. "But it's obviously not acceptable, regardless of what time of day it is or what holiday was the day before."
Ok then. Whatever the reason for it, the team knows that it can't stand around on the ice with their thumbs up their bums for the first period tonight. The Sharks made them pay, and the Kings'll do the exact same thing.
This is your GameDay Thread. It's a late starter tonight. Let's stay awake for all three periods. Let's hope it ends in regulation for our European friends. Let's make Ben Scrivens look dumb (at least on the ice). Let's avoid losing two in a row for the first time this season.
Let's do this. Let's Go Blues.
