GameThread for St. Louis Blues at Minnesota Wild, Dec 31, 2013

The Blues would like to end a successful 2013 on a high note against the stumbling Minnesota Wild.

Elliott'll have the chance to make (hopefully) tons of saves like this one tonight.

After a surprising start to the season, the Minnesota Wild have crashed back to earth. Zach Parise is out for at least four weeks with a fractured foot, and Josh Harding had been on the IR until recently. They've gone 0-5-0 in their last five, and are 3-7-0 in their last ten. They flirted with the top spot in the Central Division briefly, but have allowed the Dallas Stars to squeak past them for fourth in the division.

The Blues have had their own struggles, however they haven't manifested themselves in the standings. Top linemates David Backes and Alexander Steen are out, which means that Chris Porter might be able to say "hi, Mom!" during warmups. They've had to scrape and claw for wins in their last two games, a shootout win against the Blackhawks and an overtime win against the Stars. Suffice it to say that Kevin Shattenkirk is the king of extra time. Wrap that guy in bubble wrap.

This is your last game day thread of 2013. Let's party like it's 1999. If you go out tonight, be safe, and if you're able to join us here for the game day thread and pop the top on something cold and fizzy of your choice. Let's do this.

Let's Go Blues.
