Islanders At Blues Morning Open Thread: New York State Of Meh

The Blues are back after a disappointing road trip. Will they take care of the Islanders, or will New York hang tough?

Bruce Bennett

Never underestimate the New York Islanders. They're off of two shootout losses to the Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins, both with Anders Nilsson in net. They vacillate between atrocious and surprisingly good when all of their ducks are in a row.

Nonetheless, this is a good bounce-back game for the Blues, who got popped a good one in California. After being offensively embarrassed by the San Jose Sharks, they got pushed around by the Los Angeles Kings. It's their first two-game losing streak of the season, and they dislike it.

Ian Cole and probably Magnus Pääjärvi will be back in the line-up tonight. Cole didn't have the best game against the Sharks, and Umlaut had the flu, which is apparently the hip thing to have in the NHL right now.

This is your morning open thread. Welcome the Blues home with a Lighting the Lamp, check back for a game preview, and hit us up later for a GDT and recap. Don't forget to stop by and tell fellow glutton for punishment Dom hi at Lighthouse Hockey.

Here's to a happy home game.
