The New York Islanders haven't had a good season this year. After squeaking into the playoffs last season, the Islanders now sit at the bottom of the dismal Metropolitan Division with 21 points. Goalie Evgeny Nabokov started off the season weakly, and then he got hurt, so AHL starter turned backup Anders Nilsson has now turned NHL starter. He's not off to a bad start. He doesn't have a win yet, but he does have two overtime losses to the Capitals and Penguins to his name - that's nothing to sneeze at. His stats are a bit high, but when you have a sample size of three whole games, that makes it hard to judge.
The Blues are hanging their heads because they haven't gotten a point in two games. The Islanders? Counting the overtime losses they've lost seven games in a row. Rough. Adds a little perspective - it could always be worse. Now just try to not let it get that way.
This is your GameDay Thread. Let's send these guys back to the Island. Let's break a streak - ours. Let's do this. Let's get two points.
Lets Go Blues.
