Miikka Kiprusoff is broken. He has a strained knee ligament, and is expected to miss two more weeks. This is what happens when you're forced to rely on one guy for over 70 games a season -- they break. Or go insane. Or both.
Calgary is currently in 12th place in the Western Conference with a 4-4-3 record. It seems like more often than not they're just flirting with that last playoff spot before slipping away at the end of the season. An injury to Kipper might mean an earlier slide. They have firepower, as evidenced by Wednesday's 7-4 defeat of the Dallas Stars, but they also allowed four goals. They're immensely beatable.
The Blues finally broke their five game losing streak Wednesday with a 4-3 overtime win against the Detroit Red Wings. Calgary would be the perfect team to begin a new winning streak against. The Blues might want to build up that confidence level before heading into Vancouver on Sunday night. The Canucks are 8-2-2, and apparently have two starters.
Gee, I wonder what that feels like?
This is your morning open thread. Please check back later for some Road Music, Three Questions with the guys from Matchsticks and Gasoline, and a game preview. Heck, I might even toss up a game day thread and recap for you guys. Who knows?
Let's go Jake Allen. Let's go Blues.
