Andy McDonald, Alex Steen Injury: Both Forwards Hurt In Practice Drill

First the Blues lose Jaroslav Halak, then he comes back only to see Vladimir Tarasenko go down with a concussion. Today, in one of the rare full-team practices that the Blues have time for this season, both Andy McDonald and Alex Steen go down. From Jeremy Rutherford in today's Post-Dispatch:

[McDonald] collided with teammate Vladimir Sobotka and went down, writhing in pain. He was helped off the ice to the bench, putting no weight on his left leg. After sitting briefly on the bench, he limped under his own power to the locker room.

In the sequence just prior, Steen was injured during a battle scrum, which saw his helmet pop off. He also went to the bench before eventually heading off to the locker room.

Terriffic. Hitchcock had no comment on their status as of right now -- basically he just said "wait until tomorrow." That's great, considering the Blues play the Blackhawks on Thursday, and we all know what kind of streak the Hawks are on. If you want the Blues to break that streak, you need McDonald and Steen.

Steen currently leads the team in points with 15 (four goals, 11 assists), while McDonald has eight (three goals, five assists). They've also played together on the same line for most of the season, save for when Ken Hitchcock was shuffling the lines during the Blues' losing streak.

Keep your eyes peeled up for call-ups. The Blues don't even have the injuries mentioned on their website, but call-ups are a good sign that something's more serious than the Blues need it to be.
