Alex Steen Injury: Blues Recall Adam Cracknell From Peoria

New, comment

The Blues have recalled Cracknell, which doesn't bode well for Steen's status.

Andy McDonald is on the injured reserve, which means that the Blues called up forward Andrew Murray from the Peoria Rivermen. Today the Blues announced they called up familiar forward and fan favorite (mostly just for his name, honestly) Adam Cracknell. From the Blues press release:

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced the club has recalled forward Adam Cracknell from the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, Peoria Rivermen today.

Cracknell, 27, has appeared in 43 games for the Rivermen this season ranking third on the team with 27 points including 13 goals and 14 assists. Overall, the 6’2, 210-pound forward has dressed in 26 games with the Blues over the past two seasons posting eight points including four goals and four assists. The Prince Albert, Saskatchewan was originally signed by the Blues as a free agent on July 23, 2009.

Cracknell isn't a scoring threat, and neither is Murray, so both of these journeymen will probably see ice time on the third line. Unfortunately, that just emphasizes the fact that the Blues' entire second line is out, as Vladimir Tarasenko is on the IR as well with concussion like symptoms. Where Vladimir Sobotka and Jaden Schwartz will play is anyone's guess, with one of the two playing on a line with Chris Stewart and Patrik Berglund, and the other probably seeing time with the two call-ups.
