The Blues, the last time they faced the Coyotes, shut them out and shut them down, and that was with Mike Smith in net. This time? Smith's out with a lower body injury, and Lori Korpikoski's probably out as well. The Coyotes are banged up at the worst time possible in the season, but will the Blues take pity? Nope. They're banged up too. T.J. Oshie just had ankle surgery (and recalled Andrew Murray!), so don't expect to see him any time soon. Scott Nichol's still out, and so's Jaroslav Halak.
Praise God in heaven that Brian Elliott has gotten back to what made him so successful last year. He's been masterful in every start he's made after relief of an injured Halak in Minnesota to start the month. Unfortunately, the Blues' two losses in April (one of which is on Jake Allen, not Elliott) came because the team can't score. Without Elliott, they might not be in the playoff race.
The Coyotes have just five goals in their last four games, and were shutout by the Sharks 4-0 in their last game. Basically, welcome to the low goal scoring club. Everyone bring coffee to the game tonight.
Hop over to Five for Howling to see what they're saying about the game tonight, and check back later for a Lighting the Lamp, a game preview, and the game day thread. If I'm not in too much of a crawfish coma (don't ask), there should be a recap to boot.
