BINNINGTON NAMED OHL GOALIE OF THE YEAR

ST. LOUIS – The Ontario Hockey League has named Blues goaltending prospect Jordan Binnington the OHL’s Goaltender of the Year.
Binnington, 19, set Owen Sound Attack single season records with 32 wins and seven shutouts while posting the OHL’s second lowest goals-against average (2.17) and third best save percentage (.932).
Binnington’s seven shutouts tied for a league-high and helped the Attack win their first ever Dave Pinkney Trophy for allowing the fewest goals in the league (165).

BLAINVILLE-BOISBRIAND ARMADA (Ryan Tesink): Defeated Acadie-Bathurst 4 games to 1 in First Round. Defeated Val-d'Or (Francois Tremblay) 4 games to 0 in Quarter-Final Round. Semi-Final series vs. Baie-Comeau tied at 2 games each. Game 5 scheduled for Friday, Apr. 26 at 7:30 PM EDT in Baie-Comeau, QC.

Sanctions for Armada and Drakkar

Following the events that occurred during the end of the game between the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada last night, the Director of Player safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Raymond Bolduc, announced ... sanctions:

(Among the sanctions imposed is a two-game suspension for Ryan Tesink)

Moreover, the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada forward, Cédric Paquette, is fined $1 000 for his inappropriate behaviour at the end of the game.
Each of the organizations is fined $5 000 and the head coaches, Eric Veilleux and Jean-François Houle are suspended for the next 2 games.
The Director of Player Safety took this decision after having viewed the video of the incidents, considered the officials report, spoken to the Baie-Comeau and Blainville-Boisbriand organizations and consulted with his senior advisor, Sébastien Bordeleau.
