Blues At Red Wings Morning Open Thread: Brunchtime Hockey

Get your eggs benedict and bloody marys ready to go, folks. It's the proverbial morning hockey game.

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Quick morning open thread for folks, since I'm about 100% sure that no one but me is up this damned early on a Sunday morning (damn early GRE start time... by the time this publishes I'll be asleep at a computer somewhere pretending to remember math).

The Blues are on a nice little three game winning streak when it counts, at the end of the season when it's time to erase the goof-ups of earlier in the season. There's no point in going back to look at games that they "should have won;" that's in the past. Now, the focus is on winning as many games as possible for the remainder of the season.

Today's going to be tough, because the Red Wings are also basically using the same strategy. Despite hiccups like their 7-2 shellacking last Sunday at the hands of the Chicago Blackhawks, the Wings are also finding ways to win. They're an experienced team; they know all that matters is making the playoffs. Chances are about 95% that they will.

The Blues' chances are about 90% right now. Hopefully by the end of the day that'll be a little better. Go get some breakfast beers and check back later (in an hour, probably) for a game preview, some three questions with the illustrious J.J. from Winging It In Motown, perhaps some road music if CCR is awake, and a GDT.
