This is, without a doubt, the best quote I've ever read from Jay Bouwmeester:
"I don’t want people to think I’m out to lunch or anything," said Bouwmeester, the 29-year-old defenseman the St. Louis Blues acquired from Calgary in an April 1 trade. "I appreciate the chance to be in the playoffs, but I’m no different from anybody else."
In all actuality, that might be the only quote I've read from JBo, but the whole New York Times piece about how successful he and Leopold have been in helping this Blues team to a 2-0 series lead is very much worth your time to read. Those two defensemen have done more to center a flailing young defense than any trade deadline pickups that I can remember in recent memory. The team has been neigh unbeatable since their addition, and I will be the first to say that I'm impressed. I was not blown away by acquiring either one of them - kind of meh in either direction - but they've been just what the doctor ordered for the Blues.
Game three is a late night start, so make some coffee just in case this one makes it to overtime. Game two very much threatened to do so until Barret Jackman's heroics, so there's just as much of a chance that tonight's game will be decided on another razor thin margin.
Ah, the dramatics of having two excellent goaltenders in net, and two tight defenses.
This is your game day thread. Lean back, relax, and... who am I kidding. Get ready to probably have at least one heart attack tonight. That's just what these playoffs are all about.
Let's do this. Let's go Blues.
