GameThread for Los Angeles Kings at St. Louis Blues, May 8, 2013

Hopefully tonight won't be the last home game of the season for the Blues; there's no doubt about it - they have to win.

Dilip Vishwanat

Welcome to game five, everyone. Try to remain calm. Try to remain positive. Try to have as much beer in the fridge as possible.

The maddening inconsistencies that have plagued the Blues all season have helped the Kings even this series at two. One loss was just thanks to not being able to hit the broad side of the barn. That one, game three, doesn't worry me much and I suspect that it doesn't worry any of you. What does worry me is the spectacular way that the Blues imploded against the Kings Monday night. With a chance to come back to St. Louis up three games to one, they played their worst game in weeks.

After this season, and seeing what usually follows a game like that, Blues fans are concerned. Captain David Backes already broke out the "soul searching line," which we all know isn't a good sign. Who soul searches during the playoffs? Well, the same team who were trying to figure out who they were throughout the first half of the season.

The Blues have been here before, and they've recovered. The biggest question is, however, how fast can they do it this time? They don't have a few games to bounce back. They have tonight.

This is your game day thread. Let's do this, and let's hope it's not for the last time in St. Louis.

Let's go Blues.
