Team Canada has released their coaching line-up for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia, and it's more than clear that they'd like a chance to repeat that gold medal. Their head coach is again noted scowler Mike Babcock. Babcock will be accompanied by recently fired former head coach of the Buffalo Sabres Lindy Ruff, and current coach of the St. Louis Blues, Ken Hitchcock. Bruins' head coach Claude Julien will also be part of the coaching staff.
That's a damn good coaching staff - everyone knows that the Sabres' problems winning wasn't 100% on his shoulders. Julien's team is on their way back to the Stanley Cup Finals. Babcock can get blood from a turnip. And Hitchcock obviously is a pretty ok coach, what with that Jack Adams he won a few years ago accompanied by the strength that the Blues have shown through the past two seasons.
I'm pretty sure that this means NHL players will be participating in the games. Oh, and just for reference's sake, these four coaches have won a combined 1939 NHL games. Screw the Great Canadian Goalie Controversy. Between Babcock and Hitchock, they could grab a mite hockey player and turn him into an all-star caliber goalie.
Your move, Team USA.
