Blues' defense prospects at USA Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid

2013 draftee Tommy Vannelli (47th overall) is attending the Team USA 2013 Junior Evaluation Camp, from which the roster for the U20 World Junior Championship squad will be selected later this fall.

Vannelli is a member of Team White, which fell to Sweden 4-2 in Sunday action. The game-winning goal was scored by Sweden while Vannelli was in the sin bin for a delay of game penalty, and Sweden's first goal of the game also came on the power play while Vannelli was in the box for interference. All told, the Blues' latest "project" defense prospect picked up six minutes in penalties against Smakronorna ("small crowns" in Swedish).

Another 2013 draftee, blueliner Santeri Saari (173rd overall), is skating for Team Finland at the evaluation camp in Lake Placid. Finland defeated Team USA Blue by a 6-5 score on Sunday. Saari had no points or penalty minutes for the Finns.
