Pre-season hockey elicits many, many responses in fans. Ranging from "meh," to "oh, cool, now we can see prospects play!" to "oh, crap, I forgot that was on tonight" to "I don't care what kind of hockey it is, it's hockey," I think we can all agree that it is one thing: a sign that the regular season is almost upon us.
The line-up for tonight's game, via the Blues' official Site:
Forwards:
Magnus Paajarvi - Patrik Berglund - Vladimir Tarasenko
Chris Porter - Adam Cracknell - Keith Aucoin
Ryan Reaves - Maxim Lapierre - Sergey Andronov
Zachary Pochiro - Ryan Tesink - Sebastian Wannstrom
Defense:
Jay Bouwmeester - Kevin Shattenkirk
Ian Cole - Roman Polak
Joel Edmundson - Jani Hakanpaa
Goalies:
Jake Allen
Francois Tremblay
That top line of Berglund-Tarasenko-Paajarvi? It's been getting a lot of attention so far at training camp. Berglund and Paajarvi were together on a line in the World Championships and netted 17 points in just ten games. Tarasenko has been working over the off-season to get into better shape, and it's showing. According to coach Ken Hitchcock, they're a fast, up-temp type of line, which should be an interesting contrast to the second and third lines. I hope the Dallas Stars weren't expecting the Blues to take it easy on them tonight. Regardless who it is crashing the crease, get ready to have the good 'ol #danellisproblems hashtag ready to roll. He's starting tonight for the Stars. Dallas will be icing a top line of Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and Erik Cole, so Jake Allen will be tested as well.
Puck drop is at 6:00, and you can listen live on KMOX.
I don't care if it's pre-season or not. Let's do this. Let's Go Blues.
