Alexander Steen Injury: Blues Activate Forward From IR

Start the celebration. Alexander Steen will be back with the Blues.

I figured that something was up when the Blues re-assigned Dmitrij Jaskin back to the Chicago Wolves, and I was right.

Alexander Steen is back with the Blues, and will be in the line-up Saturday night against the Anaheim Ducks. The Blues've been doing perfectly fine in scoring without him. The added punch will be welcome against the Ducks, who the Blues haven't had the easiest time with this season.

Obviously this is going to necessitate some line-tweaking. Jaden Schwartz's time with David Backes and T.J. Oshie, but I'm sure he'll be fine on the second line.

From the Blues' press release:

St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Friday the club has activated forward Alexander Steen from injured reserve. Steen will be in the lineup when the Blues host Anaheim on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Steen, 29, posted a career-high tying 24 goals and 38 points overall in 35 appearances this season before missing the last 11 games with a concussion. The 6-foot, 212-pound forward still shares fifth league-wide in goals, while his six game-winning goals are tied for third most.

Welcome back, Steener. His return is more than helpful; now, if the team could just figure out how to play three full periods... eh, one thing at a time.
