WOLVES GAME RECAPS
Jan. 21, 2014
Wolves' early lead doesn't last at Utica
UTICA, NY --- The Chicago Wolves held the lead midway through their first visit to Utica Memorial Auditorium, but the Utica Comets rallied to earn a 2-1 victory Tuesday night.
Rookie right wing Ty Rattie produced the lone goal for the Wolves (21-15-2-2) while All-Star goaltender Jake Allen (16-10-2) stopped 28 of 30 shots.
After a scoreless first period that featured several impressive saves by Allen, Rattie opened the scoring at 1:26 of the second period when he extended his stick waist-high and deflected Taylor Chorney’s shot from the point past Utica goalie Joacim Ericsson. Dmitrij Jaskin also picked up an assist on Rattie’s team-high 14th goal of the season.

PAW PRINTS: Former Blues' prospect Mark Cundari, who was sent to Calgary in the Jay Bouwmeester trade, became a member of the Wolves on Jan. 23 after veteran forward Corey Locke was traded to Abbotsford by the Wolves ... With Locke out of the picture, the Wolves' top seven scorers are all under contract to the Blues ... The team's three leading goal scorers -- Rattie (14), Jaskin (11), and Sergey Andronov (10) -- are all Blues' prospects as well ... The Wolves (22-15-2-2, 48 pts) currently hold the fifth seed in the AHL Western Conference playoff race ... Milwaukee (20-13-5-3, 48 pts) is in the sixth spot with two fewer wins than the Wolves; the Admirals host the Rockford IceHogs (19-20-4-2, 44 pts) this evening.

K-Wings snap Royals' seven-game winning streak
Kalamazoo defeats Reading 4-3
KALAMAZOO, MI --- The Kalamazoo Wings used a three-goal third period effort to defeat the Reading Royals 4-3 Friday night snapping the Royals season-high seven-game winning streak.
Scoring the eventual game-winner in a peculiar manner, Yannick Veilleux (5th) got on the scorers sheet with an empty net goal with 1:44 remaining.
While the goal seemed to be an insurance marker, a late rally from the Royals made Veilleux's marker more relevant.
Not going away quietly, Reading added two goals in the final minute and a half with a penalty shot tally from Sean Wiles (10th) and an extra man goal from Josh Brittain (2nd), but it wouldn't be enough as the K-Wings clung to a one goal victory.
