The Olympic announcements seem to be coming fast and furious now, which stands to reason since there's a little over a month left until the 2014 Winter Olympics begin. In addition to Team USA, Team Canada, and the Czech teams, Sweden, Slovakia, and Russia have announced their squads, and the Blues will be represented on each.
Sweden has selected Alexander Steen and Patrik Berglund. Steen, obviously, has played very well this season, with 24 goals and 14 assists. Berglund has had a slow start, but as of late he has been playing very solid hockey. With his two goal game the other night, Bergie is up to six on the season, with 17 points total.
Goaltender Jaroslav Halak, who has had his struggles this year for the Blues, will be the starting netminder for Slovakia again. He had a strong performance in 2010, beating the Russians and Sweden.
Finally, Vladimir Tarasenko was considered a bubble player initially for Team Russia, but with Russian scouts at Blues games keeping an eye on him, it was hard to ignore the fact that he isn't suffering from a sophomore slump. Tarasenko has 13 goals and 7 assists, and his goal total places him tied with Chris Stewart for fourth on the team.
