Friday Links: Drinking Your Flu Away

TGINABGDY! (Thank god it's not another Blues game day yet!

"Wait...what's this rubber thing doing here?"
"Wait...what's this rubber thing doing here?"
Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Morning everyone! DK had to tag out today (remember, we adjusted the switch-off schedule last week), so you're stuck with me.

BTW, you may have seen me on Twitter teasing a post I'm working on that I said would be up this week. That will actually be up on Tuesday, for thematic reasons. Also, because I'm not done with it yet. Spoiler alert: it's not pretty.

BLUES NEWS:
  • The Blues played a hockey game last night. It was against the Canucks. It was not a happy time. Here's what happened, from CrossCheckRaise's recap: [SLGT]
  • Harrison Mooney watched this game. Here's the not-internet-creepy things he thought. [Pass It to Bulis]
  • Zack Kassian had an awkward moment, and we all had a good laugh. *sigh* Good times. [SLGT Fanshot]
  • "The Blues fought the flu, and flu won!" ...wait, this is about how they beat the flu? Oh, well good for them. Now beat some hockey teams. [STLToday]
HOCKEY NEWS:
  • There were 8 games last night, many of which have ended with a victor and a dirty stinking loser. [NHL.com 10/23]
  • Only 5 Friday games this week. Highlights include Stars at Devils and Blue Jackets at Ducks, although Lightning-Jets might be worth watching just to see how many goals Steven Stamkos can score on Ondrej Pavelec. Let's set the over/under at 3.5. [NHL.com 10/24]
  • A lot of Blackhawks fans traveled down to Tennessee and took over Smashville. They were rewarded with a James Neal hat trick and a 3-2 Predators win. [On the Forecheck]
  • Jonathan Quick is now the official all-time leader in shutouts in Kings history, although it came in a 2-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres, so it's like really does that even count?  [Jewels from the Crown]
  • The Bruins might have some problems ahead - they'll be without Zdeno Chara for the next 4-6 weeks, possibly more if he needs surgery for knee ligament issue. [Stanley Cup of Chowder]
  • Wild goalkeep Darcy Kuemper has played 4 games thus far. He recorded his 3rd shutout last night with a 2-0 win over the Coyotes. [Hockey Wilderness]
  • Yesterday's Thursday Thirteen - the weekly power rankings of all things Conference III. [III Communication]
  • The Blues "fan experience" is slightly more expensive this year than last, but is still well below league average - so get your cheap asses to Clark Street, ya' dicks! [Puck Daddy]
  • What fuels Patrick Kane? I mean other than Natty Ice and orphan souls. [Puck Daddy]

OTHER SHIT:
  • Shane works in the deli at a Wal*Mart. His manager might not like the things he does, but he wins Employee of the Month of the Universe for Eternity in my book! [Daily Viral Stuff]
  • You've probably already seen it 17 times by now, but just in case you've been frozen in ice for the past 48 hours, the trailer for The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron is out and...*shivers*.... [Nerdist]
  • James Blunt, the "musician" behind the terrible 2005 song "Beautiful" that no one on Earth has not heard 6,000 times, recently apologized for the song in an interview. That's a good first step, Mr. Blunt, but now you must pay penance to truly show your regret. Here's what he should do to make it up to us all, such as only singing the Weird Al version from now on. [Riverfront Times]

VIDEO:

This is...kind of a stupid human trick...and OHL coach was asked a question by a reporter. His response was...pointed, shall we say. NSFW.

I'll have the rest of the weekend, plus Monday. Toss me some links - I won't miss the net on an open 2-on-1 chance! (Actually, yeah I probably would, but that's not the point.)

Yeah the Blues have looked shitty so far, but cheer up - it's fucking Friday!
