Halloween. Have fun with it. If you can.
BLUES NEWS:
- Goals by Alexander Steen (who, according to Carl Gunnarsson during a second intermission interview with Chris Kerber, "got his big ass in the way" of Gunny's shot) and Ryan Reaves (!!!) combined with an excellent performance by Jake Allen paced the Blues to a 2-0 victory over the Ducks, their first win over the Ducks since the lockout-shortened 2013 season. Nicely done. CCR has the deets. [SLGT]
- Here's what Anaheim Calling thought of things. Obviously they didn't think as glowingly of the contest. [Anaheim Calling]
- All this, despite some shitty news about two of the Blues' top leaders. Both David Backes and T.J. Oshie have been diagnosed with concussions. Backes, after falling on his head after a check by Trevor Daley . . . and Teej, after flying into the post face-first after being nudged in the back by Patrick Eaves . . . and yes, both on Tuesday against the Stars, if you didn't recall. [SLGT FanShots]
- Episode 58 of Beyond Checkerdome! We discussed the Canucks and Blackhawks games, John Scott and a bunch of things that were definitely tangent-worthy. [SLGT]
- Boy, if you have some money to drop, look at some of these relics they have in the Brett Hull Collection at Classic Auctions. (S/T to UIWWildThing) [Classic Auctions]
HOCKEY NEWS:
- Scores. There were ten of them, including that awesome one from the DrinkScotch. [NHL.com 10/30/14]
- Four games on a spooky Halloween schedule that includes Detroit, Dallas and Nashville. [NHL.com 10/31/14]
- Our old friend Splodeybones, mister Carlo Colaiacovo, signed with the Flyers. Thankfully, he didn't tear ligaments in his hand while signing the contract. *RIMSHOT* [USA Today]
- Speaking of injuries . . . Red Wings center Stephen Weiss, while on a conditioning assignment, hurt his groin. Hey, remember when Blues fans wanted this guy back in July 2013? Yeah, that was fucking great, wasn't it? [CBS Sports Eye on Hockey]
- From injuries to legal trouble . . . Wild(s) forward Thomas Vanek now has to explain why his name is all over a laundered gambling debt ring in Rochester, NY from his brief time with the Islanders . . . as if his brief time with the Isles wasn't already inexplicable enough. [Puck Daddy]
- Our old friend Chris Stewart fought Milan Lucic yesterday. They threw a shitload of punches and stuff. [CBS Sports Eye on Hockey]
- One of those scores you saw above? A shootout win by the Devils . . . YES, A SHOOTOUT WIN BY THE DEVILS! It's their first one since the lockout-shortened 2013 season. [USA Today / For The Win]
- MGM says they are in discussions with a group looking into bringing a hockey team to Las Vegas. [CBS Sports Eye on Hockey]
OTHER SHIT:
- The Mayor of Anchorage, AK apparently has no problem with moose impaling themselves on peoples' fences. Basically claiming it doesn't happen often enough for them to care. Oooooooo . . . kay there, buddy. [Y! / AP]
- Just a reminder (and maybe J-Mill will also say something about this, probably Saturday) that for some dumbass reason, we're setting our clocks back an hour Sunday morning. [Gawker / The Vane]
VIDEO:
Seriously, I could give a shit about Halloween. But, here are 26 facts about the holiday, read by John Green behind a shitload of very, VERY strange masks:
Heh. Okay.
YOUR VIDEO THEME NEXT WEEK: I wanna go back to MST3K stuff. So send me some of those.
