Saturday Links: The Doctor Will See You Now

Wibbly-wobbly, linky-winky

"Why I oughtaaaaa..."
"Why I oughtaaaaa..."
Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Sci-Fi week meets Science Saturday?!? (Don't get your hopes up. Sorry.)

  • Before we get started, you may have heard of the woman who fell off of the Scottrade escalator and died after Thursday night's preseason game.  Here is the official from Tom Stillman himself. [Blues]
  • Read a bit about the woman and what happened. [STLToday]

BLUES NEWS:

  • BIG NEWS, GAME TIMERS! St. Louis Game Time's paper edition is back for the 20th anniversary of Game Night Review/St. Louis Game Time! Starting with Thursday night's opening night against the Rangers, you can buy your papers at various spots outside of Scottrade Center for $4, OR you can subscribe to the paper digitally & get each edition emailed to you for only $2/issue. Find out more, and if you don't even THINK about no signing up! (EDIT: I just realized 7 hours later that I forgot to finish editing that last sentence so it would be actual English. I'm going to leave it alone, as a testament to my failures as a human.) [SLGT]
  • Oh BTW, an update on #SaveTheOrgan:

So, you know. Just what I was saying. Carry on.

  • Bradley "Brad Lee" Lee & co. will be ready to go on Thursday night...unfortunately, Carl Gunnarsson won't be. [Pro Hockey Talk]
  • Vladimir Tarasenko is becoming more awesome by the day. [STLToday]
  • C&BFan questions whether the goalie is at the center of the universe. [SLGT]
  • The Blues last fake game is tonight at 7 in Minnesota. [Blues]
HOCKEY NEWS:
  • MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA The Blackhawks, who are already over the salary cap, signed Daniel Carcillo to a 1 year deal at league minimum. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! [Sportsnet]
  • In much less funny news, Kris Letang, who you'll recall suffered a stroke last season, can't get the possibility of it happening again out of his mind. [Pro Hockey Talk]
  • Minnesota Golden Gopher fans who would like to buy hockey tickets are being forced to also buy Minnesota football tickets as well. The humanity... [Puck Daddy]
  • Gary Bettman just solved three different problems with one potential move. Might he be a *gasp* genius? [SBNation NHL]
  • The name of the game is "shot suppression." (EDIT: Forgot to credit this one to BleedBlue42, who posted it in yesterday's comments. Enjoy the belated sticktap!) [Progressive Hockey]
OTHER THINGS:
  • Happy National Ships-In-Bottles Day! That and other off-beat holidays in October: [Mental_Floss]
  • Cards scored 8 runs in the 7th inning & Beat LA last night. And some friends of mine had to be escorted out of Dodger Stadium by police to keep them from being beaten to death. [Viva el Birdos]
  • I'll admit, I don't have anything special for Science Saturday this week...so here's a bunch of really cool pictures from nature - you can't beat a polar bear with his hand raised! [io9]

VIDEOS:

[Looks at title of links post.] "Doctor?" Doctor who?

(With a bit of The Hunger Games thrown in for good measure.)

Today is Saturday, so Doctor Who will be on tonight...but what if it were turned into an awesome Saturday morning kids cartoon? Well, I'm glad I made it seem like you asked!

BONUS! The same guy who made that Doctor Who cartoon intro also did a really awesome one for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which A) is crazy that it never got a Saturday morning cartoon version, and B) I really wanted to try and justify including Buffy in Sci-Fi week, but since Buffy-magic isn't even close to real science, that's a bridge just too far (except maybe seasons 4 and/or 6, but I digress). Some hidden spoilers, BTW
