Blues Lose Brian Elliott To Dreaded Lower Body Injury

Jordan Binnington has been recalled from the Wolves.

In last night's 3-2 shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators, the Blues lost something more important than the game. They lost Brian Elliott. He sustained a lower body injury in this scrum at the net:

Chris Butler shoved Eric Condra into the goaltender, and you can see Elliott's right leg fold awkwardly under his body. He tried to stay in, but as a precaution he was pulled and Jake Allen was put in, surrendering two goals (one in the last 40 seconds of the game) en route to the shootout loss.

The Blues recalled Jordan Binnington today from the Chicago Wolves. Don't get ready for the Binnasty Era in St. Louis quite yet. He's been playing well with the Wolves, with a 6-2-1 record, a 1.89 GAA and a .925 save percentage. However, be prepared to see Allen get a majority of the starts until Elliott returns. Binnington may get the start during the back-to-back games that close the month against the Oilers and Wild, respectively.
