Last night's game between the Edmonton Oilers and Nashville Predators was a shocking 0-0 draw through regulation. The best team in the Central Division and the worst team in the Western Conference (and fast becoming the worst in the NHL). Jordan Eberle wound up getting a penalty shot when Shea Weber fell on the puck in the blue paint and aaaaalmost squeaked it past Pekka Rinne, but not quite.
Still, I doubt that's hurt any of his stock with Doug Armstrong.
The Oilers lost 1-0 in overtime due to Filip Forsberg being Filip Forsberg. Regardless of the outcome, it was one of the best games that Edmonton has played all season. They might be tired tonight. The Blues certainly shouldn't be, since they have been off since Tuesday night. Unfortunately, tonight they will be without Brian Elliott thanks to a knee injury that has left him week-to-week. The Jake Allen era begins tonight.
The Martin Brodeur era in St. Louis will have to wait.
This is your morning open thread. Check back later on for the second part of Rick's Memorabilia Memories, a preview, maybe a Brodeur update if there's anything to mention, and the GDT. When you get a break from Black Friday madness, head over to The Copper & Blue, say hi, and just subtly ask if the Oilers would be in the market for a goalless fourth liner who is chock full of grit.
