Tuesday night was not the most auspicious for the Blues, or for Jake Allen - though Allen was put in cold after the team lost Brian Elliott to injury. The team let off of the gas, the Senators worked their way back into the game, and then poof, gone in a shootout.
Tonight should be a bounceback game against a tired Oilers team. I don't mean physically tired, though that may play into it. They lost in overtime 1-0 last night against the Nashville Predators, a potentially demoralizing loss considering how well they played. Every opportunity they had, and they had some very good ones, was stonewalled. No, chances are good that the Oilers are emotionally tired. The team is awful, the press consistently points it out, David Perron is on the chopping block, and the young guys have stagnated.
The Blues need to seize the opportunity. There are no easy games in the NHL, but tonight should be as close as they come.
