Islanders At Blues Morning Open Thread: Blow Another Lead, Isles.

The Islanders became the first team in more than a decade to blow back to back three-goal first period leads.

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Islanders might be the Eastern Conference's biggest surprise this season, but what isn't surprising is that they're having issues with the Central Division. Saturday they blew a three-goal first period lead to the Blues to lose 6-4. Tuesday night they blew a three goal lead to the Minnesota Wild en route to a 5-4 loss. Different goalies played in each game - Jaroslav Halak Saturday, Chad Johnson on Tuesday - but the missing defensemen for the Isles are starting to hold them down.

Speaking of the Islanders and missing defensemen, Carl Gunnarsson is still out for the Blues with a concussion. David Backes may be out for doing his best Keith Tkachuk impression with the help of a T.J. Oshie slapshot off of his face. Alexander Steen and Jay Bouwmeester are questionable, but it would be helpful if they came back tonight, especially Bouwmeester.

This is your morning open thread. Check back in a little bit for the new Memorabilia Memories, your preview, and your GDT tonight. While you're waiting, head over to Lighthouse Hockey and say hi to Dom and the rest of the crew.
