"Game Time" PROSPECT SUNDAY for December 28, 2014

Jordan Binnington took the bit in his teeth and backstopped the Chicago Wolves to three wins during Christmas week, while Petteri Lindbohm does his best yo-yo imitation again. In the Great White North, the Alaska Aces took Christmas week off, but will return to action New Years' Eve against division rival Utah.

Wolves Respond With 5-1 Triumph at Iowa

DES MOINES, IA --- Less than 24 hours after losing by 4 goals at home to the Iowa Wild, the Chicago Wolves gained a measure of revenge with a 5-1 win over Iowa on Sunday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena.
Forward John McCarthy recorded his first two-goal game for the Wolves (15-11-3-0) and added an assist. Forwards Rob Bordson, Shane Harper and Colin Fraser also scored goals while Jordan Binnington stopped 27 of 28 shots to earn the win.

Wolves score early and late to prevail over Grand Rapids

ROSEMONT, IL --- The Chicago Wolves scored three times in the opening 15 minutes, but needed Jeremy Welsh's rebound goal with 6:31 to play and Philip McRae's insurance goal to earn a 5-3 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Monday night at Allstate Arena.
Forwards John McCarthy, Shane Harper and Welsh provided the early scores for the Wolves, who observed a moment of silence for former assistant equipment manager Clint Reif before the game. The 34-year-old Reif, who passed away Sunday morning, worked for the Wolves in 2005-06 before joining the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Wolves scored 10 goals in their wins Sunday and Monday after managing just 1 goal in a home loss on Saturday night.
"We had to change our style a little bit because of our lineup and our tiredness," said Wolves head coach John Anderson. "It was hard, but I appreciate the guys buying in. It's hard to change things that you want to do in midstream, but we had to do these things to get better."

Wolves Stay Hot With 6-2 Win at Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, WI --- The Chicago Wolves scored four goals in the second period and rolled to a 6-2 Amtrak Rivalry triumph over the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday night at the Bradley Center.
The Wolves (17-11-3-0) produced at least five goals for the third game in a row as forwards Shane Harper, Jeremy Welsh, Ty Rattie, Philip McRae and Cody Beach and defenseman Brent Regner scored for Chicago.
Jordan Binnington (10-4-1) rejected 24 of 26 shots as he and the Wolves earned their third win in five days.

PAW PRINTS:

Rattie's goal vs. Milwaukee made national news, earning a spot on ESPN's Plays of the Week (link to video at ESPN dot com HERE) ... Sebastian Wännström finally got back into the lineup this week in the road game vs. Iowa, but aside from three shots on goal did not contribute on the scoresheet ... Rattie remains in third place on the league's goal-scoring leaderboard with 15 goals, one behind co-leaders Teemu Pulkkinen of Grand Rapids and Nick Shore of Manchester ... Beach still leads the league in penalty time served with 132 minutes, 19 ahead of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton enforcer Bobby Farnham ... Binnington has moved up to fifth in goals-against average (2.07) but dropped back a bit to 20th in save percentage (91.9%).

COMING UP:

This week's "Trending Up" feature at 2:00 PM CDT.

Due to, let's just say... an underwhelming response... your GTPD has decided to discontinue the weekly "On The Horizon" feature with updated statistics and schedules for the prospects playing outside the AHL and ECHL. Beginning next week, and on the first weekend of each month thereafter, we will post a monthly statistical update for all the prospects playing in Europe, major junior, the USHL and college.
