"Game Time" Prospect Sunday: THE '14 FILE, Mar. 16, 2014

Hindsight is always 20/20, so your GTPD is taking advantage of clear vision to "re-imagine" the 2014 Mock Draft, drafting at the positions where the Blues will actually be selecting this June.

==================================================

In this edition of "The '14 File," we're going to compare our selections to the players chosen in the mock at the positions in which the Blues will be drafting.

We made 13 picks in this mock; the Blues, as of now, will have ten picks... assuming that the conditions specified in the Miller/Ott deal are all met. Based on the standings as of today, March 16 (and again assuming the conditions are met), the Blues will pick in the following slots:

32nd overall (from EDM in Perron deal), 52nd overall (From MIN via BUF in Miller deal), "own" pick at 60th overall, 61st overall( from BUF in Miller deal), "own" pick at 90th overall, 110th overall (from TMP in Crombeen deal), 125th overall (from CGY in Russell deal), 178th overall ( from BOS in Redden deal), "own" pick at 180th overall, and "own" pick at 210th overall.

The first pick, Anthony DeAngelo, is thrown out, as the Blues will not be picking in the first round this year (assuming that the conditions of the Miller trade are met). Ryan Macinnis was drafted at 32nd overall in the mock, and as that is the Blues' forst draft position in the 2014 Draft, your GTPD is happy to keep that pick intact.

The Blues' next position is 52nd overall, and the 52nd overall choice in the mock was Swedish center Lucas Wallmark. Several interesting players were chosen between 52nd overall and the next GTPD selection at 65th overall; Wallmark, Dubuque center Shane Eiserman (53rd), big QMJHL defenseman Alexis Vanier (55th) and St. Louis native Blake Clarke of the North Bay Battalion in the OHL (59th). If we were drafting at 52nd overall, given the players on the board at that point, the New Hampshire commit Eiserman would probably be our selection, but we would take a long look at Wallmark, Vanier and Clarke there, too.

The Blues' next positions will be back-to-back picks at 60th overall (their own pick) and Buffalo's pick at 61st overall. The player chosen in the mock at 60th overall was Brandon's import forward Richard Nejezchleb, and the player chosen at 61st was QMJHL goalie Mason McDonald. Your GTPD does not have Nejezchleb on our radar, and we rank our pick at 65th, Ville Husso, higher than McDonald on our goaltending "Hot List," so we'll opt for Husso at 60th overall.

Our selection at 61st overall would then come down to a choice between Brandon center Jayce Hawryluk (chosen 64th in the Mock), Ottawa defenseman Jacob Middleton (69th), Gatineau winger Vaclav Karabacek (71st), USA defenseman Jonathan MacLeod (72nd), Plymouth left winger Matt Mistele (74th), and Swedish blueliner Adam Ollas Mattson (76th). While we took a long look at the three defensemen, Karabacek is our choice here.

Check back next week for further breakdown of the mock draft, and a complete "re-do" of the mock selections based on the draft positions the Blues actually have, and players on the board at those position in the Mock draft.
