Tonight the Blues continued their post olympic road trip in Phoenix, Arizona. As I am sure you have heard it was Ryan Miller's and less importantly Steve Ott's first game in the Bluenote. It proved to be a rough one for the Blues as the Coyotes came out with a vengeance, getting a point on the board two minutes into the game. As Blues Nation contemplated their life choices about Ryan Miller and his abilities, the game drudged on. The second period would see the Blues fail to gain much pressure on Phoenix's Mike Smith, only being able to get off seven shots in the period's entirety. The Coyotes, however would put another goal behind Miller and take a two goal lead. Something needed to ignite a fire under the collective asses of the St. Louis Blues. A spark would come from none other than Patrik Berglund.
The Blues would come out of the locker room for the third period a changed team. The first 40 minutes of play would seem to be erased from the team's memories, Eternal Sunshine style. The team from St. Louis would be a force on the ice and play as if the game had just began. At 3:18 of the third period the BergDawg would break the collective slump with the first goal from the St. Louis Blues in over 184 minutes. The goal gates would remain open, as the Blues started to gain confidence and momentum back in their favor. Goals came from Magnus Paajarvi, Kevin Shattenkirk and another clincher from Bergie. The Blues would get some pretty big saves from Ryan Miller and he was a difference maker throughout the game and kept the team in the race throughout the entire 60 minutes. He faced only 25 shots but was able to make some pretty good saves outside of the help from the Blues defense. It was also nice to see Steve Ott play hard and get shots on net and contribute to the team offensively and defensively instead of running around like a cannonball. All in all it was a game that showed the weaknesses the Blues still need to work on in the scoring department but broke the ice for Miller and Ott. The team returns to St. Louis tonight and begins prepping for the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.

That'll make one helluva trivia question some day: Paul Bissonnette, the guy that scores once a decade, 1st to score on Miller. #stlblues

It's to the point where the #stlblues are going to ask Ryan Miller to break their scoring drought.

Someone apparently told Patrik Berglund that he was still in Sochi. He's wearing the right colors, anyway. #StLBlues #TreKronor

Go figure, the #stlblues can't score for eight periods dating back to Winnipeg game, now with four in 3rd period tonight.

Tonight was only the 4th time this season in 41 games Ryan Miller faced 25 shots or less in a game. #stlblues
