I know that this isn't exactly a morning thread, per se. It's more of an early afternoon one. Two reasons: one, time changes suck and two, Cards Against Humanity is a wonderful, wonderful game.

The Blues' victory yesterday was more important than most wins over the Avalanche would be - a loss and the Avs would've been just one point behind the Blues, breathing down their necks. A win and the Blues add a little bit of cushion to their Central Division lead. Thankfully option B was the reality.

Today's game isn't quite so do or die, and may not have a playoff feel to it, but that's ok. It still should be a good one. Minnesota's firmly in the wild card spot, and would like to surprise teams in the playoffs (AKA get past the first round), so they loaded up at the trade deadline. They brought Matt Moulson over from the Sabres, and traded to get Ilya Bryzgalov from the Oilers. Bryz should do well in a land where bears roam rampant. I hope he's not scared of his own jersey.

This is you morning(ish) open thread. Check back in a while for your game preview and GDT, and don't forget there's some Prospect Sunday goodness coming up from Brian. Head on over to Hockey Wildnerness while you're waiting for their take on things, and don't forget - the game's at 7:00. Make sure that your clocks are set right.
