Saturday Links: Because Of Course

Sometimes hockey can go fuck itself.

Teemu forever. And ever. And ever.
Teemu forever. And ever. And ever.

"Hey here's the deal: when life gives you lemons, just say 'Fuck the lemons,' & bail." - Forgetting Sarah Marshall

I assume Jason Segel was thinking about a Blackhawks-Kings game when he wrote that.

  • David Backes - Blues captain, US Olympian, former Selke Trophy finalist, jet pilot, canine savior, and now officially a graduate of Minnesota State University-Mankato! Congratulations to The Inglorious One. And sticktap to Jennifer Renkly. [MavBlog]
  • Other than that, the closest thing to Blues news...[is this]

  • It was rather futile to even entertain the thought that the Western conference finals would be anything other than Those Fuckers Up North and Those Assholes Out West. Kings laid down an old school LA-style beatdown to knock out the Ducks 6-2 in game 7 last night. [Jewels From the Crown]
  • Those Assholes Out West won the first of likely many California Championship Series, but that somehow only achieved a 33% approval rating at Battle of California. [BoCBoCBoC]
  • #TeemuForever [Pro Hockey Talk]
  • Today at 12 noon central on NBC is the start of the 3rd round, with the New York Rangers heading north of the boarder to take on the Montreal Canadiens to start the Eastern Conference Finals. Here's a great look at the unexpected position the Blueshirts have found themselves in. [Blueshirt Banter]
  • As for Le Bleu, Blanc, et Rouge, they're happy to look back at their vanquishing of their Beantown foes and conclude that it was luck or a bad series by the Bruins that saw them move on - they went out there and won that damn thing. [Habs Eyes on the Prize]
  • Speaking of that series, the Bruins eulogy went up yesterday, penned by the fantastic PensBlog. [Puck Daddy]
  • The biggest off-ice news: the Penguins have fired GM Ray Shero. But Dan Bylsma is currently still employed, at least until the new GM is hired and immediately fires him without a second thought makes that difficult decision. [PensBlog]
  • Oh, and the probability of Seattle getting an NHL team that I'll hate seemed to take a pretty big leap yesterday as a potential ownership group went public. [King 5]
  • This week, a little boy named Carter knocked on his neighbor's door and asked for a banana. When the man who answered the door obliged, Carter took a bite like a badass, then without saying a word, walked away like he were Jason Statham walking away from an explosion. Then the man told reddit, and The Internet did its from there. I want to be this kid when I grow up! [Buzzfeed]
  • If you've been down to Cardinals games in recent years, you've probably seen St. Louis Superman from time to time. He hangs around the block in a Superman outfit being cool, and as of the other day, apparently breaking up fights between drunk Cubs fans. And then getting put into head locks by drunk guys who like to obnoxiously laugh at people and then inform them that the sound they had just heard was in fact his obnoxious laughter directed at them. DonutKing gets himself a sticktap, and suggests this dude should be at Blues-Hawks games. [Deadspin]
  • Global warming is a very real thing. That is not a political statement. But I don't give a shit about your carbon footprint right now - I just want to show you which Major League Baseball home stadiums we'd stand to lose if ocean levels rise at current projections within the next 100 years. A light Science Saturday shows that we'd be missing out on the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, and the Houston Astros, among several others, so actually it sounds like a good idea to me! [SBNation]
  • Have you ever asked yourself, "Am I cooler than Outkast?" Well for reference, here's a list of everything that Big Boi & Andre 3000 - who'll be headlining LouFest this August - have ever claimed to be cooler than, such as "a polar bear's toenails," or "anti-freeze defrost on your window pane." (Spoiler Alert: No, you are not cooler than Outkast.) [Riverfront Times]

Everyone binge watches their TV shows these days, whether it's on Hulu or Netflix or less than legal sites actual, physical DVDs. And now with Memorial Day coming up and the 2nd season of Orange is the New Black just around the corner, we'll all be crowded around out screens for hours at a time.

But have we ever considered how are binge watching affects others? Ourselves?

I've never been able to get a glass of water to make music. I've sure as hell never been able to play Tchaikovsky on water glasses! Closest to that I ever got was writing a paper on Tchaikovsky while drinking "water" (actually Bud yeah, pretty much water).
I even get the basic physics behind it and it still boggles my mind!

If you send me some links and/or videos, that technically counts as your "Good Dead for the Day!" Make it happen, people!
